LocomotionHermit Crabs use their legs, also know as peripods, to walk. Unlike crabs, who's legs move side to side, the hermit crabs legs move up and down. They walk forward and backwards, holding their abdomen up. They often have a heavy shell on their back and will drag their bellies along the sand.
